Two MAE student teams, one team from the Mechanical and Automation Engineering Programme (MAEG) and another team from the Energy and Environmental Engineering Programme (EEEN), won the Champion and First Runner-up, respectively, in the 2024 ASMEHK-CityU Student Design Competition, held on 23 March 2024 at the City University of Hong Kong.

Hosted by the ASME Hong Kong Section, the theme of the competition is “Harvesting Energy from the Sun and Wind”. Each team was required to design and build a remotely controlled vehicle that could harvest renewable solar and/or wind energy for mechanical and transportation purposes. With their outstanding performances in the demonstrations, the two teams won the Champion and First Runner-up in the competition.
