Professor Yangsheng Xu, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, is the President of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen. He received his PhD degree from the University of Pennsylvania. He worked at Carnegie Mellon University (USA) for years and joined The Chinese University of Hong Kong subsequently. In the August of 2013, Professor Xu was appointed the first President of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen after a global selection process.

Professor Xu’s research interests include robotics, intelligent systems and artificial intelligence. He has been interested in space robotics, service robotics, robot language, wearable interface, intelligent vehicles and self-learning systems. He has published 6 books and over 300 papers in international journals in these areas. He is also Fellow of International Academy of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Academician of International Eurasian Academy of Sciences, Fellow of Hong Kong Academy of Engineering Science, and Fellow of EU Academy of Sciences.
