Champion & First Runner-up at the Robocon 2024 Hong Kong Contest
25 Jun, 2024

Congratulations to CUHK’s robotics teams “Wonder Seed” and “Golden Farmer” on winning the Championship and the First Runner-up, respectively, at the Robocon 2024 Hong Kong Contest. The two robotics teams are comprised of students mostly from engineering, including Mechanical and Automation Engineering (MAE), Electronic Engineering (EE) and Computer Science and Engineering (CSE).

Champion: “Wonder Seed”
First Runner-up: “Golden Farmer”
Best Performance Award: “Golden Farmer”
Best Presenter Award: LEUNG Wing Hei (UG, IE) from “Wonder Seed”
Key Influencer Awards: LEE Pak Ho (UG, MAEG) from “Golden Farmer”
CHAN Cody (UG, MBChB) from “Wonder Seed”

The contest was held at Hong Kong Science Park on 23 June 2024, with 14 student teams from eight higher educational institutions. Featuring stronger AI elements, the theme of this year’s contest was “Harvest Day”, which was inspired by the cultivation on Vietnam’s terraced fields. Each CUHK team designed and built a fully automated robot equipped with auto path planning, ball recognition, and the ability to navigate and put the ball into the silo based on the real-time scenario.

The Robocon Hong Kong Contest is an annual flagship event organised by the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation, which aims to grow and promote Hong Kong’s next generation of skilled engineering, AI and robotics talents.

The champion team “Wonder Seed” will go on to represent Hong Kong at The Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) Asia-Pacific Robot Contest 2024, to be hosted in Quảng Ninh, Vietnam in August.
