The 5th ATEC competition, organized by The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and co-hosted by the Advanced Technology Exploration Community (ATEC), Ant Group, Peking University, and Beijing Normal University, took place on 6-7 December on the CUHK campus. This marks Hong Kong’s first large-scale outdoor robotics competition and is also the world’s first robotics event themed around “Real-World Extreme Challenge”.
Three students formed a team called “CUMAE” for the competition, which took place within CUHK’s natural outdoor terrain, including the Lingnan Stadium and the “Creek under the bridge”, featuring arched bridges and hilly terrain. The challenge tested the team’s robot’s ability to navigate uneven surfaces and complete complex physical tasks autonomously under ever-changing natural lighting.
Among 12 elite teams selected from 392 entries worldwide, the student team “CUMAE” achieved 5th Place, making them the only team composed entirely of undergraduates to achieve this success.
Team members of “CUMAE”
FUNG Ho Yat, Aaron (MAEG)
LEUNG Yau Ming (CS)
CHAN Shu Ying (MBChB)
Congratulations to the team!
