Two student teams from the MAE Department won the Champion and First Runner-up in the ASME Hong Kong Section X PolyU Student Design Competition 2026, held on 19 April 2026 at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University.

Hosted by the ASME Hong Kong Section, the competition focused on the theme “Waste Collection Challenge”. Each team was tasked with designing, building, and testing a versatile waste collection device capable of 1) navigating a model city with diverse terrains; 2) efficiently collecting and sorting garbage and recyclables, and 3) transporting and depositing waste into the appropriate facility.

With their excellent demonstration performance, our students won both the Champion and First Runner-up.
