YAM Yeung is a Research Professor at the Department of Mechanical and Automation Engineering (MAE) at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). He is also the Director of the CUHK Shenzhen Research Institute and Master of the Lee Woo Sing College of the University. YAM Yeung is currently the Principal Investigator of two CUHK InnoCentres: Centre for Perceptual and Interactive Intelligence (CPII) and the Multi-Scale Medical Robotics Center (MRC) at the Hong Kong Science and Technology Park (HKSTP). He is the Principal Investigator of the CUHK Jockey Club AI-for-the-Future Project of Phase I (2019-2022) and Phase II (2022-2026), and led two projects commissioned by the HKSAR Education Bureau on AI curriculum development and teacher training for Secondary Schools in Hong Kong. His dedicated career at CUHK includes serving as Chairman of the MAE Department (2004-2011) and as Interim Dean of the Faculty of Engineering in 2018. YAM Yeung received his Bachelor degree in Physics from CUHK, and his M.Sc. and Sc.D. degrees in Aeronautics and Astronautics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Prior to joining CUHK, YAM Yeung was a member of the Technical Staff at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) in Pasadena, California, USA. His research interests include artificial intelligence, surgical robotics, computational control, and smart manufacturing. He has published over 250 technical papers in his fields of interest.
