Paper Title: Design and Analysis of ESS-CDPR: A Mobile Cable-Driven Parallel Robot with Elastic Shell Surface as Frame
Project Information:
Cable-driven parallel robot (CDPR) is a class of parallel robot with advantages such as small inertia, high payload-to-weight ratio, high speed and acceleration. However, it is usually difficult to fabricate and deploy CDPR because of the large outer frame. Also, CDPR lacks mobility and can hardly be moved to different locations. Addressing these issues, the team proposed to use an enclosed elastic shell-surface (ESS) as the outer frame. ESS-CDPR can operate as a traditional CDPR while achieving mobility without adding additional actuators beyond cable.
In CableCon 2025, Mr. Jingjun Liu presented this work with a live demonstration. This paper was then selected for the Best Application Paper Award.
