Prof. Darwin Tat-ming LAU of the MAE Department has been awarded the 2019 UGC Teaching Award (Early Career Faculty Members). It recognizes his dedication and achievements in his learner-centred and experience-based learning ideology.
As a leading expert in robotics, he significantly enhances students’ learning interest and enriches their learning experience by introducing hands-on experience to the robotics programme.
Beyond the classroom, Prof. Lau not only supervises a range of student activities but also collaborates with medical professionals to establish a student prosthetics development team. The experiences that students apply their engineering skills to help amputee patients have improved their quality of learning and motivation. His teaching philosophy and dedication set examples for good teachers.
